SECTION IV. FIRE AND EXPLOSION HAZARD DATA
FLASH POINT, AUTO IGNITION TEMPERATURE, UPPER AND LOWER EXPLOSIVE LIMITS (%) :
Not Determined ( Aqueous system)
EXTINGUISHING MEDIA:
Non-Flammable (Aqueous system). Will not burn until all water has evaporated. Use Water Fog, Carbon Dioxide, Dry Chemical, or all purpose foam
SPECIAL FIRE FIGHTING PROCEDURES:
Wear self contained- breathing apparatus and protective clothing to prevent contact with skin and eyes. Use water spray to keep fire-exposed containers cool.
UNUSUAL FIRE AND EXPLOSION HAZARDS:
Product does not burn until all water has evaporated but it may spatter if the temperature exceeds the boiling point of water. Dried solids can burn giving off oxides of carbon and nitrogen.
SECTION V. REACTIVITY DATA:
STABILITY: Stable
INCOMPATIBILITY: Avoid heat, sparks, flame, and contact with strong acids and oxidizing agents. Prevent vapor accumulation.
HAZARDOUS DECOMPOSITION PRODUCTS: Burning can produce carbon monoxide, oxides of nitrogen, and unidentified organic compounds.
HAZARDOUS POLYMERIZATION: Will not occur
SECTION VI HEATH HAZARD DATA
A. EXPOSURE LIMITS
OSHA Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL) and Threshold Limit Value (ACGIH) Not Established
B . EFFECTS OF ACUTE OVEREXPOSURE
INGESTION: No evidence of adverse effects from available information.
INHALATION: Inhalation of vapors in a poorly ventilated area may be irritating to the eyes, mucous membranes, and respiratory tract and may produce symptoms of headaches, nausea, and difficulty in breathing.
SKIN CONTACT: May be harmful if absorbed through the skin.
EYE CONTACT: Vapor may cause irritation and temporary disturbance of vision. Liquid may produce irritation experienced as excess redness and swelling of the conjunctiva with chemical burns to the cornea
C. EMERGENCY FIRST AID PROCEDURES
INGESTION: Seek immediate medical help.
INHALATION: Remove from exposure to fresh air and provide oxygen if breathing is difficult. Seek immediate medical help.
EYE AND SKIN CONTACT: Immediately flush eyes with water for at least 15 minutes while holding eye lid open. Seek medical help.
Wash skin with soap and water. Remove and wash contaminated clothing before reuse.
SECTION VII. PRECAUTIONS FOR SAFE HANDLING AND USE:
STEPS TO BE TAKEN IN CASE OF A SPILL: Restrict area to only those personal needed. Wear appropriate respirator and protective clothing. Eliminate all ignition sources. Handling equipment must be grounded to prevent sparking. Water fog may be useful in suppressing vapor. Shut off source of leak only if safe to do so. Dike and contain spill with sand, clay, or other suitable absorbent. Take up absorbed material and place in non-leaking containers for proper disposal.
WASTE DISPOSAL METHODS: Incinerate. Observe federal, state, and local laws concerning heath and environment.
PRECAUTIONS TO BE TAKEN IN HANDLING AND STORING: Keep away from heat and flame. Since empty container retains product residue, follow warnings even after container is emptied.
SECTION VIII. CONTROL MEASURES
RESPIRATORY PROTECTION: Avoid prolonged breathing of vapors. Use NIOSH approved respirator to prevent overexposure. In accordance with 29 CFR 1910.134 use either an atmosphere supplying respirator or an air pump respirator for organic vapors.
VENTILATION: Use explosion proof ventilation as required to control vapor concentrations.
EYE AND SKIN PROTECTION: Safety goggles, impermeable gloves, and protective clothing should be worn. An impermeable apron or smock should be worn to minimize skin contact.
OTHER CONTROL MEASURES: A safety shower, eye bath, and washing facilities should be available. Wash thoroughly after handling. Keep container closed when not in use.
SECTION IX. SPECIAL STORAGE AND HANDLING PRECAUTIONS
1)Keep liquid and vapor away from heat, sparks, and flame.
2) Avoid breathing vapors in top of shipping containers.
3) Keep containers closed.
4) Use with adequate ventilation.
5) Avoid contact with skin and clothing.
6) Wash thoroughly after handling.
7) Ground and bond transfer equipment and containers.
8) For industrial use only.
9) Avoid contact with strong acids.
